SEPTEMBER 15, 2009 NEW YORK CITY GOP PRIMARY ELECTION CANDIDATES – PLEASE VOTE!!

Listed below (after the break) are all New York City Republican races for Tuesday's primary election.  To view New York City GOP candidates (and their opponents) in the November 3, 2009 general election, please click here.

Please feel free to comment and provide your choices as to which candidate(s) shall win, deserve to win (but won't) and/or deserve to lose. Notably, there are no primary elections in the boroughs of the Bronx and Staten Island (and only one in Manhattan). This only further demonstrates the dearth of interest in the GOP in the city of New York.

And again, if there is a primary election in your district, please vote! Your vote is important - don't waste it!

Enterprise, I was talking to folks on the street yesterday as I was informing them of a Republican Primary. It's more than likely that if Republicans were open to primary in districts where Republicans would be competative, we would see an increase in voter registration. There is certainly a large number of registered Democrats that are Republican or vote Republcian in a General regularly but because of no primary, are registered Democrat so they can increase their input in the political process.

Still not enough
written by enterprise , September 16, 2009

I agree that many “Republicans” register as Democrats because they enjoy actively participating in primaries. Many have told me that it’s more “fun” to be a Democrat in New York because they always get to vote in a primary and therefore effect the outcome (in their own small way).

However the reality is that there are still not enough Republicans to go around.

I find it abhorrent, for example, that Cy Vance will have no GOP opposition in the Manhattan DA race. How can that be? Running against Morgenthau is one thing; but no one has the gumption to challenge Cy?
