So, what happened to property owner's $400 rebate checks this year? Usually we have 'em by now. Turns out the Mayor decided not to send them. Staten Island Councilman Vincent Ignizio says he can't do that: "I don't think he has the authority to not abide by the law which was passed in the budget...The Government made a covenant with the people that there would be a $400 rebate check."
Ignizio is leading a group of council members who are considering suing the Mayor. The City Council did something similar when Rudy didn't spend money that was approved in the budget so there is a precedent for this action.
Bloomy also plans to rescind the 7% property tax cut this year as well. Four more years of this?

charge a six cent tax for PLASTIC bags when you go shopping. Who is hurt by this? Poor people, of course. Bloomy and his pals have maids carrying their junk when they go shopping. This is really, really petty and awful.
