The Republican National Committee plans to raise money this election cycle through an aggressive campaign capitalizing on "fear" of President Barack Obama and a promise to "save the country from trending toward socialism."

That's the open paragraph from Ben Smith at the Politico. Apparently, the RNC believes the Party should just go on the attack, not providing the average voter a reason to vote Republican.
Whose idiotic idea is this?
Every time I talk politics with my dad, he asks me if I've brought a voter registration card because he's fed up and ready to leave the Republican Party for their stupid tactics.
He tells me, "I got a letter during the Presidential campaign saying, Obama's citizenship is in question and so is his religion. His association with Ayers and Wright question who is going to lead this country if he wins. Not one thing as to why McCain is a better candidate. Void of substance. Just fear-mongering B.S."
He then tells me, "The RNC called me asking me for money. They gave me no reason to give them money. Just reasons why they think Obama is awful. I tell them, 'Your opinions are duly noted, but you still haven't given me a reason to give YOU money. Just reasons not to give money to Obama.' I then add, until you have real sollutions in solving today's problems, don't call me asking for money."
I tell you. He's certainly got a point. There are many people who are worried about some scary socialist agenda from this president because they feel Glen Beck's emotional plea on this, but the bottom line is the average voter needs to be excited by candidates. Remember Contract with America? These were key issues the Gingrich "revolution" ran on and won on in 1994. Without an agenda, the RNC is going to RUIN our candidate's chances.

After the RNC pissed away $3 million on a website that doesn't work (as compared to the DNC, which has a great website that cost $300,000), it's reasonable to ask why anyone should trust the RNC with their money. The website contractor was a crony of GOP insiders.
Avoid the corrupt middlemen. Give directly to the GOP candidate(s) of your choice.

Limbaugh actually defended the RNC yesterday, essentially saying that the attack on Obama for promulgating "socialism" is true.
That's true as far as it goes, but we already have a hybrid health care system with huge government involvement. I think we should replace government welfare programs with cash benefits, but even Limbaugh won't go that far yet.
